Mr.Bond® BOPP packaging tape is suitable for carton box sealing and stationery use. Available in light, medium, and heavy-duty grades and a range of colours including transparent and brown. Printed tapes can carry company logos and messages in up to 5 colours (custom). This is the Mr.Bond® grade at 42 microns; the LKJ® BOPP tape is a separate 38–40 micron grade, so quote the brand as well as the width when you order.

Mr.Bond® BOPP Packaging Tape is a carton sealing and stationery tape made on 42 micron BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) film. It is supplied in light, medium and heavy-duty grades, in standard widths from 12mm to 96mm with custom widths on request, and in lengths from 50m to 1000m, including long rolls for automatic dispensing machines. Colours include transparent, brown, milky white, red, green, blue and black, and tapes can be custom printed in up to 5 colours to carry a company logo or a standard message such as Handle with Care or For Export. BOPP is used for packaging because the film is stretched in two directions during manufacture, which gives it strength in both the machine and cross directions. BOPP stands for biaxially oriented polypropylene. The film is stretched in two directions during manufacture, which aligns its molecular structure and gives strength along the roll and across it, the reason BOPP became the standard film for carton sealing.

Grade follows carton weight. Light, medium and heavy-duty grades exist because a stationery carton and a heavy export carton do not ask the same thing of a tape.
Width follows the flap. Standard widths run from 12mm through to 96mm, the narrow sizes for stationery and light sealing and the wider ones for carton flaps that need real coverage across the joint.
Length follows the dispenser. Hand-held dispensers take shorter rolls; long rolls up to 1000m are for automatic dispensing machines, where fewer roll changes means fewer stoppages on the line.

A printed tape does two things at once: it seals the carton and it labels it. Anything that would otherwise go on a separate sticker, brand name, handling instruction, export marking, travels along the sealed seam instead, which is also the seam anyone opening the carton has to break.
