What is Mr.Bond® RED double-sided tissue tape used for?
It is ideal for posters, stationery, economical invitation boxes and paper wristbands: print and packaging work where a thin, hand-tearable double-sided tape replaces glue.
Double-sided tissue tapes in general are used for bonding, mounting and laminating, and they suit materials such as paper, plastic and fabrics. The tissue paper carrier between the two adhesive faces makes the tape easy to tear by hand and gives better flexibility and conformability on curved surfaces.
Mr.Bond® RED is the 80 micron grade with a unique composition of adhesives and excellent printed release paper. Buyers comparing it against the premium range can review all seven PTK® double-sided tissue tape grades on the sister brand site.
How does Mr.Bond® RED compare with PTK® 700?
It is an economical substitute to PTK® 700 in terms of adhesion strength. That comparison is deliberately narrow and worth reading carefully: it is stated in terms of adhesion strength, not as a like-for-like replacement across every property.
PTK® 700 is a solvent-based 70 micron double-sided tissue tape with the PTK® printed liner and a superior release paper, aimed at mono cartons, fancy invitation boxes, high end chrome posters, paper wrist bands and garment labels.
If your job is running on a premium grade and the requirement is really about adhesion strength, Mr.Bond® RED is the grade to trial. If it depends on the other properties of the PTK® range, stay with that range.
What do 80 microns and printed release paper mean in practice?
80 microns is the tape thickness, slightly more than the 70 micron Mr.Bond® BLUE grade, giving a little more adhesive in the bond line.
The release paper is the backing liner you peel away. Excellent printed release paper means it strips cleanly and consistently at working speed, and that the grade is identifiable on the bench from the print itself rather than from the core label.
It can be sliced up to 500m in length. Send the slit width, roll length and substrates you are bonding and the requirement will be quoted against your specification.
